EHS Representative Information
The EHS Representative (EHS Rep) reports to and assists the PI/Supervisor in identifying and addressing EHS issues and is responsible for the groups EHS Training reconciliation. The EHS Representative initiates actions where appropriate and brings issues to the EHS Coordinator and PI/Supervisor when his or her authority is required to address an EHS issue.
- Contact AeroAstro’s EHS Coordinator to be added to the appropriate training group to obtain access to the training requirements.

- MIT EHS has instituted a 2 part mandatory orientation
-All EHS Reps must take EHS00762w: EHS Rep Orientation Overview
-Some labs are required to take EHS00763c: EHS Rep Orientation Practicum

- Guide new lab members in AeroAstro & MIT’s EHS Training
- Conduct lab specific training for new members
- Track groups EHS Training reconciliation through Atlas
- Inspections:
- Complete Weekly Level 1 Inspections in physical lab space
- Complete Level 2 Inspections with AeroAstro EHS Coordinator
- Annual Chemical Reporting
- Offboarding:
- Contact AeroAstro’s EHS Coordinator at least 1 month before
- Familiarize new rep with lab specific information & other EHS Rep information

Create/Change/Display PI Space and Green Cards, Annual Chemical Reporting - Atlas Training Reports
EHS reps can run a PI training report by choosing Report 3: Report on all registered users under a PI or supervisor - EHSA (EHS Assistant) – Chemical Inventory
- EHSA Chemical Inventory Guidance – Brief tutorials on viewing your inventory, searching for items, adding, deleting, sharing, and moving items
- EHS Assistant Excel Template – for importing chemical inventory
- EHSA Video Tutorials
- SOP Template – Standard Operating Procedure
- Supervisor’s Injury Report – to report an Injury. Report must be filed within 24 hours of the incident.
- Inspection Guidance
- Level I Inspection Checklist (PDF) – Completed weekly in each lab by the lab’s EHS Rep
- Level II Inspection Checklist (PDF) – Completed twice annually by EHS team
- Order signs and stickers
